Materials:

  • One long, slender balloon (260 sizes) for the body and head (choose a color you like)
  • One long, slender balloon of a contrasting color for the mane and tail
  • One white or silver long, slender balloon for the horn
  • Balloon pump (optional, but highly recommended)
  • Permanent markers (for drawing eyes and other details)

1: Making The Unicorn’s Head

  • Use a balloon pump to inflate the first long, slender balloon, then leave about a four-inch uninflated tail. It will be the body and head of your unicorn. Tie a knot to secure the air inside.
  • Pinch and bend the balloon’s opening about 5 centimeters from the lip. After that, you should twist the balloon to form an off-center bubble.
  • Make an ear of the unicorn by twisting it into an oval, then repeat it for the second ear and lock it.
  • Next, twist a small spherical bubble into a pinch twist and slide it between the unicorn’s forehead and ears.
  • Make a 7/8 centimeter bubble by twisting the balloon about three inches from the head. This will be the unicorn’s neck.

2: Proceed To Form The Unicorn’s Body & Tail

  • Make two 4-inch bubbles by twisting the balloon twice, 4 inches from the neck. Fold the two bubbles together and twist them to lock the legs.
  • For the unicorn’s body, around four inches in front of the unicorn’s legs, create a third bubble for the unicorn’s tummy smaller than the legs.
  • Next, make two more 4-inch bubbles by twisting the balloon twice, 4 inches from the body.
  • Then, insert the second balloon. Create a slight loop twist, around one inch in diameter, at the end of the remaining balloon, and connect it to the base of the back legs. It will create the tail.

3: Form The Unicorn’s Horn & Draw Its Face

  • Use the balloon pump again and inflate the white or silver long, slender balloon, leaving a 2-inch uninflated tail. Tie a knot to secure the air inside.
  • Twist the balloon into small pinch twists, creating a spiral effect to form the unicorn’s horn.
  • Attach the horn to the head by tucking the end of the spiral between the head pinch twists. Lastly, use permanent markers to draw eyes [1], nostrils, and other details on the unicorn’s face.
